Tell us about your family.
- This year marks twenty years of marriage to my wife, Lindsay, and we have two sons: Ezra and Abram. As a family we enjoy basketball whether it is playing together in the driveway, Abram playing in his Upwards league, Ezra playing for his school, or catching as many Spurs games as possible.
Favorite Book of the Bible?
- Judges because it is better than your favorite action film. You have a spy infiltrating the royal palace to assassinate the king, a woman driving a tent peg through a dude’s skull – what more could you ask for?!
Why should we preach the Minor Prophets?
- There is a sort of legalism that proclaims to understand God’s law but fails to understand God’s heart. That legalism existed in Old Testament Israel and it can exist in the Church today. The Minor Prophets were sent by God to help God’s people not only come to better understand God’s law but to better understand God’s heart. Preaching the Minor Prophets helps to correct the legalistic tendencies that may exist in our churches and to promote an environment in which we are careful not only to adhere to God’s rules but to also reflect His heart.
Best book on theology or preaching that you have read in the last year?
- Foolishness to the Greeks: The Gospel and Western Culture, by Lesslie Newbigin
